Administration

My name is Carla Smith, and I am truly honored to be the new principal of Fifth Grade Academy!

I come into this role with three clear commitments: student safety, student success, and student
leadership.

Safety is a non-negotiable
I want every child to walk into our building each morning knowing they are seen, they are
valued, and they are protected—physically, emotionally, and socially. Fifth Grade Academy will
continue to strengthen our safety procedures, but even more importantly, we will continue to
build a culture where kindness, respect, and responsibility guide every interaction.

The power of high expectations
Every student—no matter their background, their strengths, or their challenges—deserves a
quality education. At Fifth Grade Academy, we believe every student can succeed. We will
ensure that every student has the opportunity to achieve their personal best, academically and
personally.

Success and leadership.
Here at Fifth Grade Academy, we believe in growing student leaders. Through the
implementation of The Leader In Me and the seven habits of highly effective people, we will
teach students how to lead with empathy, take initiative, and make a difference.

We need you—our parents and families.
You are your child’s first teacher, and your voice matters here. I want to see you here. I want to
hear your thoughts and concerns. I want to get to know you and your child. Whether it’s
volunteering or simply cheering on your child at a school event—your presence sends a
message that learning matters. Please be involved.

As we begin this new year together, know this: my door is open. My heart is in this work. I am
committed to ensuring that every child who walks through our doors leaves more confident and
ready for the world ahead.

Together, we are one team, with one goal—growing greatness in our students.
Let’s make it a fantastic year!
