Welcome to Stephens County Fifth Grade Academy's Counseling Connection

 

At 5GA, our school counseling program offers a variety of services to all students.  Academic success for everyone is extremely important, therefore, the services provided are geared toward enhancing each student's educational achievement. Parental involvement in their student's educational experience is desired and welcomed.  Counselors strive to provide services that assist students in developing academic, personal/social and career development and success.

 

Specific services available include:

     Personal/Social development through individual and group counseling

     Classroom guidance

     Advocacy

     Advisement training

     Consultation through conferencing

     Coordination/Collaboration with students, parents, administrators, staff and community

     Crisis counseling

     Assessment/Testing and use of data

     Career guidance and counseling

     Academic development

 

 

Keumele Keown serves students attending the Fifth Grade Academy. Mrs. Keown received her Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education from Valdosta State University in 2003, her Masters in Counseling from Valdosta State in 2008 and her Education Specialist in Leadership from Valdosta State in 2013. Mrs. Keown has 7 years of experience in education, working as a teacher, counselor and administrator. Mrs. Keown has a love for all children, and desires to help each student find a pathway to success. 

 

Mrs. Keown has been married to Michael Keown for nearly 18 years and they have 3 children--Carrie, a sophomore at SCHS, Andrew, a 7th graders at SCMS, and Jacob a 3 year old.  Mrs. Keown loves spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Keown is excited about this new adventure and looks forward to making a difference in the lives of the students at SCFGA and SCMS!
